LaTeX templates for Monash

Published on 24 March 2010

I have updated my LaTeX templates for use at Monash so they no longer depend on HyTeX. Templates are provided for producing a working paper and a PhD thesis in the Department of Econometrics & Business Statistics at Monash University. People at other universities are welcome to adapt the templates for their own institutions.

    Could you provide an example of the final result (PDF) of a document created with the Monash thesis template?

    Thank you in advance!

    Dear Rob,

    I’ve downloaded your talktemplate.tex, it still has
    \usetheme{Hytex}
    in it. Could you please check.

    Best regards.

    Ahmet

      Yes, the talk template still uses a theme called HyTeX, which is unrelated to the HyTeX style file — I just re-used the name. Sorry for the confusion. The relevant theme files are in the zip file provided in the first step.

    Dear Rob,

    Slide 7 of your beamer presentation
    http://robjhyndman.com/talks/Fuzhou.pdf
    has a picture which covers the slide edge-to-edge. I couldn’t manage to do that with \includegraphics, could you please let me know the trick?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Ahmet.

      I use the textpos package in conjunction with \includegraphics. For example, put

      \usepackage[absolute,overlay]{textpos}

      in the preamble. Then a full width figure can be included using the following:

      \begin{textblock}{12.8}(0,1.4)
      \centerline{\includegraphics[width=12.8cm]{filename}}
      \end{textblock}

    Hi Rob,
    Just want to confirm that I can use these templates on Mac(TexShop)?

    Thanks.

      Yes. The LaTeX implementation should be irrelevant.
