  • Unzip these files in the directory “C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex”
  • Run “Settings” from Start, Programs, MikTeX 2.9, and do the following:
    1. Click “Refresh FNDB” to refresh the filename database.
    2. Select “Yes” in the box at the bottom of the window to install packages on the fly. This means that any required packages will be automatically installed without you having to worry about it.
    3. Click OK to exit “MikTeX Options”. It may take a while to close while it downloads the package database.
  • Finally, to make sure everything is working ok, open sample.tex in TeXstudio to see an example of a LaTeX file. Click on “Quick build” (or hit F1) and the file should be processed and appear in a separate window. Study the difference between the original file and the final product to learn some basic LaTeX commands.
